In Shanghai

We made it to Shanghai.  We finished our last adoption work in Shanxi and headed out Saturday mid day to the Taiyuan airport.  The airport is very busy, but Helen helped us get all checked in and ready for our flight.  I was a little sad for Laim leaving Taiyuan, Shanxi as he is leaving his home.  He really does not have any idea what lies ahead of us.  He is such a happy and playful baby and so easy going.
On the flight we had lots of snacks for him so he was very content.  We ended up sitting next to a young business woman from Shanghai who spoke good English and she was amazed at our journey adopting Liam.  She was also amazed at how attached and adjusted he is after just a few days with us.  He did get spooked a few times in the airport when he did not see me in his direct line of vision.  He got scared during the security check because I had to put him down while I put the bags back together.  THis was just after he cried because the CHinese young man took him from me to separate us because we made the metal detector go off.  He had to separate us to see where the metal was so he held LIam up right next to me while the other guard scanned me.  Liam was not happy!
Once he saw me and got back on track he was a little more clingy, but overall he did great.
He did not cry much on the flight, but we had plenty of snacks to keep him swallowing to try to keep his ears from hurting.  Then he drank some hot tea and ate noodles which are defineately his top 2 food groups!
We were finally able to post all our pictures on the www.dropshots.com/alacomb so you should be able to access the pictures there as well.  They are mostly categorized by dates but some of the dates are a little inaccurate.  I am hearing that the pictures here are not appearing and someone suggested sending them as an attachment, so I'll try a few this time and hopefully I'll hear back if they are viewable or not.
We meet Chuan in the morning.  Sandra, our guide says the kids from Shanghai and Alliance are so very well prepared.  She said their Journey of HOpe camp was held in this hotel and the kids slept here with the camp so they are also familiar with the surroundings.  THere will be 9 families meeting their kids tomorrow.  I think some of the kids are older like Chuan and hopefully there is safety in numbers for them.  We are praying CHuan wants a younger brother, or Di Di in Chinese!  We'll see how they both react to the new situation and hopefully post some pics and notes tomorrow afternoon!
From Shanghai, Amanda, Paula and Liam
